By the time Selena was 20, she was known throughout the Southwest. Adored and emulated, she was at the top of her game and the future looked even brighter. She had about 12 recordings under her belt and she wasn't looking back. However also by this time, fans got used to a new last name as Selena married her guitar player, Chris Perez. |
Another thing Selena did as she entered her 20's was realize another dream of hers. As a kid, she always loved to doodle and draw and she also loved clothes. One of her favorite past times was making clothes for her dolls. Now, Sel opened her first fashion boutique in Corpus Christi, Selena ETC, a place to sell her own designs. Music was her first passion, but fashion came in a close second. |
In 1993, Selena Y Los Dinos performed in their hometown and recorded the performance. It was released as Selena:Live and what a show it was! The CD led to Selena's first Grammy. The Grammy and her following album Amor Prohibido only solidified her postion as Queen Of Tejano. Selena was now the best selling female performer in the Tejano market and it only seem to reason that she ready to move on. The next album would be an English crossover. She had taken Tejanos, Mexicans, Latinos everywhere! Now it was time to take in the Gringos! |
